The description of the arms

Shield, semicircular (dimidiated on a vertical), green and red colour.

In a field of the shield there are two figures.

The main figure - decorated Cossack powder-flask (silver) placed at the bottom of the shield, above it there is a golden oak trefoil with two acorns.

The shield is encircled in a decorative cartouche, with a city crown.

Symbolics of figures

Cossack powder-flask is made of a horn, that first of all points to a title of the city, and also to the famous past of area (till 1775 - the territory of Zaporozhye Sich), legend about the founder of city, Cossack Kryvyi Rih and other version about a parentage of the city title of is creation curve horn for the junction of the Ingulets and Saksagan rivers.

The Cossack powder-flask also testifies about the large potential and possibilities of city, abilities for operation and development: " There is still gunpowder in powder-flask " and reminds of call-up " Keep gunpowder always dry! ".

Golden oak trefoil with two acorns is first of all the character of force, strength, wealth, deep root s and spiritual revival.

Тhe trefoil with its form looks like the trident, which is the character of the unity of forces, primordial sign talisman of the Ukrainian soil.

Besides, trefoil symbolizes the past, the modern both future and their nonseparable link, and as the living natural form - constant development and upgrade.

Primary values of colours in heraldry:

Green - prosperity, will, hope, pleasure,

Red - bravery and knightly advantages (love, courage, boldness, magnanimity),

Gold - wealth, force, fidelity,

Silver - chastity (cleanness of thoughts and particular acts).
